KYSPRA to be honored at NSPRA Seminar
The Kentucky School Public Relations Association (KYSPRA) will receive two awards at the July 2008 National School Public Relations Association Seminar in Washington, D.C. KYSPRA has earned the Blue Ribbon Chapter Award and an Honorable Mention for Distinguished Single Project for the "Handwashing 101" video project. The Blue Ribbon Chapter Award is given to NSPRA state chapters for efforts to work toward NSPRA's mission, goals and objectives. Required efforts include: yearly projects to support NSPRA goals; NSPRA membership campaign; serve as public relations counsel to the education community; broaden and expand the number and types of publics with which chapter interrelates; promotion of racial minority membership and cultural diversity; chapter programs which enhance NSPRA's mission to assure lifelong learning by improving education through responsible communication and interpersonal relationships through the adoption of education's Flag of Learning and Liberty; chapter PR in-service programs; chapter member contributions to education; and contributions to professional growth.
Thanks go to Blue Ribbon chair Dick Thornton of Hardin County and the many members who sent him items to be included in the Blue Ribbon application. Thornton is also the catalyst behind the Distinguished Single Project award. He conceived the idea and saw it through to completion. All Kentucky school districts should now have the results of his work in the form of the "Handwashing 101" videos for elementary, middle and high school students.
